It was bitterly cold outside Saturday, but warm, cozy and cheery inside Whispering Oaks Vineyard along Route 61, Sunbury.

More than 400 future brides, friends and family members were treated at the beautiful, three-story banquet hall to a dazzling display of wedding gowns, accessories, flowers, cakes, cosmetics, tuxes, catering, jewelry and just about everything else associated with weddings at the second annual Winter Bridal Show sponsored by The Standard-Journal in Milton and The News-Item in Shamokin.

The area’s largest bridal show proved a huge success once again while attracting more than 400 people and approximately 40 vendors.

Amy Moyer, publisher of The Standard-Journal and one of the main organizers of the free event, was very pleased with Saturday’s turnout that featured a vast assortment of wedding attire, related promotions, delicious food, sparkling wine and other beverages.

In addition to praising the Cunningham family, Moyer commended staff from An Elegant Production, of Middleburg, with greatly assisting with the expo. “Adora Ackerman helps to keep everything in check,” she said.

She was also very grateful for the assistance of her Milton staff Debbie Seebold and Tricia Dreese as well as her husband Graydon Moyer.

“Tricia and Debbie are always willing to assist with newspaper events and they were a great help with organizing the vendors,” said Moyer. “Graydon is always willing to help me with events for which I am very thankful.”

Moyer said she was a bit surprised so many people braved the elements to attend the show as bone-chilling temperatures persisted throughout the day.

The event, which ran from 1 to 5 p.m., was highlighted by a bridal runway show by Brides Bouquet, of Selinsgrove, from 3 to 4 p.m. that featured future brides wearing an assortment of elegant dresses.

Vendors packed the second and third floors of Whispering Oaks while food and beverages were available on the ground floor. Five different vendors catered the expo and free wine tastings were offered by the host facility.

“This place is awesome,” said Josh Swartz, who is a friend of Glenn Cunningham. “People came out here despite the weather. It’s great to see.”

His wife also was impressed by the expo and described the event and venue as “amazing.”

Emily Shovlin, of Sunbury, who is planning a December wedding, enjoyed looking at the numerous options available to future brides and was grateful for the opportunity to attend an expo five minutes from her home.

She said, “I’m really impressed. All this is free. The expo is great and so is the food and wine.”

Sarah Young, of Danville, who is planning her October 2019 wedding, added, “It’s really nice here. The dresses, food, cake, flowers and everything else are tremendous. It’s like a one-stop shopping center.”

Desiree Ignaszewski, of Coal Township, who plans to wed in July, described the expo as an “elegant event” that offers numerous options for future brides. “It’s a very nice atmosphere here and I was really impressed with the food and wine, too,” she said.

Kasi Ristine, of Elysburg, who is planning a November wedding, said, “I got a lot of useful information by attending the expo. The staff is very friendly and there was a wide variety of vendors. This place has it all.”

Colleen Kane, of Sunbury, who is planning to wed in December 2019, said, “There’s a wonderful variety of vendors here. Anything a future bride could want is here. The sponsors, staff and vendors are all very accommodating and it’s great to have an expo and venue like this in the local area.”

John Eccker said, “This a wonderful place for an event like this. There are numerous options for brides planning a wedding. We hope to host multiple events at our new business in the future.”Read more at:lace wedding dresses | wedding dresses 2017
